Hops for HEARTH Cancelled

HEARTH will be cancelling our Hops for HEARTH event being held next Friday, March 20, 2020 and it will not be rescheduled. This was a difficult decision for us, but our community’s safety is our number one priority.  We came to this decision after numerous discussions with staff, supporters, and community members. Governor Wolf and the PA department of Health have recommended suspension of all social gatherings over 250 people. Hops for HEARTH has many more than that in attendance and, out of an abundance of caution for everyone in attendance, we feel that this was the right call to make.

Silent Auction Items – HEARTH will still host our silent auction; however, it will be displayed virtually! You can still browse all of our items that would have been at Hops for HEARTH and bid via BidPal. The auction will open on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at noon and will run until Monday, March 23, 2020 at noon.

You can bid at this link – https://one.bidpal.net/hopsforhearth2020/browse/all(details:item/1)
Any questions about bidding can be directed to Morgan Ceschini at mlceschini@hearth-bp.org
We will notify you if you win a silent auction package. We will notify you when you can come to HEARTH to pick-up your items, this date will be determined as COVID-19 information is updated. If there are time sensitive materials such as tickets in your package, those will be mailed to you right away.

For ticket refunds – HEARTH will issue full refunds within the next 7 days (thru Friday, 3/20/20 at midnight). You must contact Morgan at mlceschini@hearth-bp.org  to receive your refund. We have had several attendees donate their ticket purchase to the organization and we are very grateful for their support! Just a reminder, the Hops for HEARTH provides around $34,000 annually to the HEARTH budget. Please consider making your ticket purchase a donation to HEARTH. We will have a significant financial hole to fill in the wake of this crisis and cancellation.

Thank you! We would like to thank all of our sponsors, vendors, and attendees for being incredibly understanding during this period. It is at times like these that we are very grateful to have such a caring and supportive community surrounding HEARTH! We will continue to update you with more information as we receive it.

Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Etna donates cold and flu kits for HEARTH’s Families

Cold and flu season is still upon us! HEARTH was thrilled to receive a donation of cold and flu kits for our families, collected and put together by the congregation of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Etna. Mary Jo and Kevin Smith delivered the packs to our facility,  which mean each family has a pack to provide relief and comfort when seasonal bugs strike.

Thank You Emmanuel Lutheran!

New Life, New Look Closet building confidence inside and out

A HUGE THANK YOU to volunteers from the New Life New Look Closet and Adrian Foy from Levana Bratique for hosting a Bra Fitting at HEARTH this week. Twelve Moms and three daughters attended and Adrian did an amazing job, teaching about size and fit and making sure everyone got the appropriate size along with undies and personal hygiene products. Adrian was wonderful, funny, and enthusiastic putting everyone at ease and everyone learned something. Events like this are a great opportunity to bring our residents together, to talk and connect in a fun way. We are very thankful to the team from New Life, New Look Closet who are incredibly supportive of HEARTH’s moms, Adrian for giving her time and experience and to our childcare volunteers who ran and extra session to make sure moms could have the time to themselves.

They are facilitating a 25th Anniversary beer for HEARTH as we celebrate 25 years of serving our community. The beer will be in conjunction with our 10th annual Hops For HEARTH event!

This beer collaboration is the first of its kind. The goal is to build awareness around the mission and services provided by HEARTH.

“We are excited to put this collaboration together with HEARTH and Lincoln Avenue Brewery using Pittsburgh’s craft beer industry as a catalyst for helping the community.” – Dennis Guy of First Sip Brew Box

This collaboration beer will be presented exclusively at the 10th annual Hops For HEARTH on Friday, March 20th, 2020 located at Nova Place on the North Side for craft beer drinkers to experience. A select few of Pittsburgh’s libations spots will also have this brew on draft. First Sip Brew Box’s vision is also to connect with local artists to create visual works to showcase the internal struggle we all have communicating with each other around topics like domestic violence. The works of art will be auctioned off at the Hops for HEARTH event to help raise funds for our program!

CNC (Custom ‘N Craft) Malting Co. is a craft local malt house located north of Pittsburgh in Butler County has agreed to donate all the malt needed to brew this collaboration beer.

This Collaboration will be featured in a First Sip Brew Box filled will exclusive merchandise commemorating the collaboration and the event. “The best friend of a small business is another small business,” says Dennis Guy, CEO at First Sip Brew Box. “This collaboration is yet another example of how craft beer is a pillar of the community and goes beyond just good beer.” says Dennis Guy, CEO at First Sip Brew Box.

“There is no power for change greater than a community coming together to support one another.” Says Morgan Ceschini, HEARTH’s Special Events and Development Coordinator.
“Pittsburgh’s beer world has supported HEARTH thru Hops for HEARTH for the past 9 years, raising over $150,000.00 to support survivors of domestic violence. This collaboration is the icing on the craft beer cake! We couldn’t be more thrilled to celebrate our 10th Hops than with this special beer!” Says Ceschini.

*The beer style, name and brew date are TBD and will be announced in the coming weeks.
