Title: Volunteer Manager

Reports to: Development Director

Part Time Position: 50 hours per month

Essential Duties:

Volunteer Services:  90%

  • Develops, implements, and maintains the volunteer program and services for HEARTH, handling administration, policies and procedures for the volunteer program
  • Responsible for volunteers at Special events including recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision
  • Recruits, trains, schedules and supports key volunteers associated with in-kind donations, including but not limited to the Coordinator for Children’s Birthday Gifts, HEARTH Store, Storage organization, Holiday gifts, Food Pantry, and Clothing Pantry
  • Facilitates group volunteering projects for agency partners (Ex. Junior League, Girl Scout Troop, churches, sponsor corporations) and works with Facilities manager on needed projects at HEARTH
  • Schedules and organizes 4 Agency Volunteer opportunities per year
  • Ensures that all information on volunteers is provided to the administrative staff to be entered into the computer database
  • Nominates volunteers for community service awards when appropriate

Miscellaneous Duties: 10%

  • Contributes to HEARTH website and newsletter pertaining to volunteers
  • Supervises Childcare Coordinator
  • Provides support to annual HEARTH special events and fundraisers
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • 3-5 years of experience in volunteer management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Flexibility, creativity, and ability to resolve problems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of management, personnel, volunteers, donors, program participants, and the public

Physical Demands: This is a moderately active position with no unusual physical demands.  The physical effort typically required in this job includes:

  • Standing, walking, lifting or exerting force up to 30 lbs, pushing, pulling, reaching or stretching, crouching or stooping.
  • Possession of a driver’s license and ability to drive
  • Regular sitting, fingering or manual dexterity and repetitive finger motion, speaking, hearing, seeing at close and distances, and focusing ability.

Compensation: $18/hr
