HEARTH offers a variety of easy and effective ways for you to make a planned gift that will help change the lives and futures of the women and children we serve.

Charitable Giving through wills and bequests

A bequest creates a lasting legacy to be remembered by and lessens the burden of taxes on your family.

How do I make a bequest?

A bequest is one of the easiest gifts to make. With the help of an advisor, you can include language in your will or trust specifying a gift be made to HEARTH as part of your estate plan.

With proper planning, you can provide for the future financial security of your loved ones first, then designate HEARTH to receive one of the following:

  • The remainder.A gift leaves any funds remaining to HEARTH after distributions to loved ones have been fulfilled.
  • A percentage.Direct a percentage of your estate to HEARTH. This allows the gift to remain in proportion to the size of your estate.
  • A fixed amount.Give a specific dollar amount.
  • Specific property. Exclusions include: clothing, furniture, appliances, etc.

A gift through your will or trust is a more traditional method for leaving a bequest and should require your legal counsel to review any changes.

To include HEARTH as a beneficiary of your bequest, please include the following in your naming language:

North Hills Affordable Housing, INC dba

HEARTH
3724 Mt. Royal Blvd., Suite 101

Glenshaw, PA 15116

Tax ID#: 25-1605139

Retirement Assets

An excellent way to make a gift to HEARTH is donating part or all of your unused retirement assets, such as your IRA, 401(k), 403(b), pension or other tax-deferred plan.

How to make a gift of retirement assets?

To leave your retirement assets to HEARTH, you will need to complete a beneficiary designation form provided by your retirement plan custodian. Your retirement assets may be taxed 60%-70% if you leave them to your heirs at your death. Another option is to leave your heirs assets such as real estate and stock and give the retirement assets to HEARTH. As a charity, we are not taxed upon receiving an IRA or other retirement plan assets.

Gifts of Life Insurance

A gift of your life insurance policy can be an impactful way to make a gift to HEARTH. You could receive a charitable income tax deduction. If HEARTH cashes in the policy, you will be able to see firsthand how your gift supports our charitable work.

How to make a gift of life insurance?

To make a gift of life insurance, please contact your life insurance provider, request a beneficiary designation form from the insurer. You can either name HEARTH as primary beneficiary, donate an existing policy or purchase a new policy and donate it!

If you have already included HEARTH in your estate plans, please accept our sincere gratitude for your generosity.
